FROM ALBERT:
I hope you are doing well! We’ve probably both been very busy the past few months, but I wanted to take this time to thank you again for the opportunity of the internship (tell Scott McGowan I said hi as well!).
I truly think that it has set me on a career path in some way as the experience demonstrated to me how expansive and adaptive the world of engineering can be. Even though I still don’t exactly know what I want to major in, I know that I want to have a work experience similar to that of Numorpho’s, innovating the way people think about the role that machine learning, engineering, and automation will play in the future.
I thought the JWST project was perfect for what the goal of the internship was. It allowed me to understand firsthand how everything within the engineering world seems to be evolving, whether that is through researching about the telescope or actually building it ourselves.
Similarly, I found the collaborative experience that I had with Nikhil invaluable. I really enjoyed the fact that we were able to balance off our own skills to efficiently work together, and I believe that our final JWST model demonstrates this.
I have a few quick questions for you that I am curious about:
How is the helmet design coming along? Have there been any major changes since I last saw it?
Where do you see your company in 1 year or in 5 years?
What are your thoughts on the internship experience? Do you plan on creating more internship opportunities in the future?
Again, thank you so much for providing me with this internship experience that has genuinely changed and molded my view on my career path. I hope that you found the experience as successful as I did.
As a final question, could you please write me a recommendation letter for my college applications? I have attached the essay you asked me to write detailing my experiences during the internship. If any additional information is needed, I can provide it through email.
Best Regards,
Albert Ji
