PROJECTS COBRA and HAMMERHEAD that define our smart helmets for industrial use are now printed in 3 different materials – ABS, PLA and Nylon (SLS).
Depending upon the use case, different types of materials offer advantages from strength, flexibility, weight, cost and other characteristics. Utilizing composites and filling the shell with a defined honeycomb lattice structure using simulations, generative design and additive manufacturing also enable combining qualities of strength, light weightiness and cost.
Here is a great article by Grainger related to the current state of industrial helmets https://lnkd.in/gErAkdHH.
The article discusses the differences between traditional hard hats and safety helmets, which are becoming more popular as a form of head protection in the workplace.
Hard hats are designed to protect against falling objects, while safety helmets provide additional protection against side impacts, electrical hazards, and other dangers. Safety helmets also have more advanced features, such as adjustable vents, ear protection, and eye protection, that make them more comfortable and customizable.
The article recommends that employers consider the specific hazards of their workplace when deciding between hard hats and safety helmets and ensure that the head protection they choose meets relevant safety standards.
While hard hats are still commonly used in many industries, safety helmets offer greater protection and versatility, making them a worthwhile investment for those seeking the highest level of workplace safety.
At Numorpho Cybernetic Systems (NUMO), we are additionally embedding our helmets with sensors for smart monitoring to CONNECT, DETECT and PROTECT using a data engineering fabric to assess and analyze the input and utilize actionable intelligence to make sense of the surroundings and the environment.
Our helmets will cater to both:
- (G1) the hard hart version having 4-point or 6-point suspensions with airgap for protection including falling objects, tools, debris and electrical hazards, and
- (G2 & G3) safety helmets with flexible inside padding to protect against injuries from slips, trips, falls and side impacts.
Shout out to the following establishments: mHUB MxD Würth Additive Group Markforged UPTIVE Manufacturing Arduino Fastway Engineering Twinmo.ai Stroma and the folks therein for the help and support provided throughout our endeavor.
We will be showcasing these helmets at the 2024 Hard Tech Summit at mHUB https://lnkd.in/gfMsJadg. Come join us and partake in this new industrial revolution that we are embarking on to see how in a small part we are making the world a gooder, a safer and a better place.
