The mHUB 2024 Investor Report highlights the critical role of hardware as AI’s greatest enabler, emphasizing how AI’s evolution depends on advanced hardware infrastructure, including GPUs, TPUs, and emerging technologies – like NPUs (Neuromorphic Processing Units), that we at Numorpho Cybernetic Systems (NUMO) have been investigating. Numorpho is a mHUB member and we have been part of it’s ecosystem for the past 3+ years.
This focus aligns directly with Numorpho’s strategy of leveraging AI hardware advancements for our intelligent process engineering platform, Mantra M5.
Here’s how key insights apply to us at Numorpho:
1. Strategic Alignment with AI Hardware Advancements
- AI Hardware as a Growth Driver: The report underscores that hardware has become indispensable in advancing AI, with tech giants investing heavily in AI-specific chips. Numorpho’s exploration of NPUs places it at the forefront of this evolution, positioning it well for future industry shifts.
- Partner with NVIDIA: NVIDIA dominates AI hardware investments and is integrating AI across hardware and software stacks. Given Numorpho’s relationship with NVIDIA with our Inception program and the utilization of the Omniverse platform as our foundation for the Large World Models, deeper collaboration on utilizing their hardware and NIM microservices stack of LLMs would accelerate Mantra M5’s AI capabilities, especially with emerging neuromorphic architectures.
2. Key AI Domains Relevant to Numorpho
The report identifies three areas where AI innovation is driving change, all of which align with Numorpho’s operational goals:
- Foundational AI Models: As building LLMs becomes central to AI’s scalability, Numorpho can integrate advanced models into its Mantra M5 platform for generative design based on prompt engineering, coding and computation, and predictive analytics using inference engines. Partnering with hardware innovators will ensure processing power keeps pace with evolving AI tasks. We have already been pre-training and fine-tuning multiple different LLMs – Llama, Mixtral and Inflection for the Enterprise (Pi.ai) to have Industrial Copilot/Coworker capabilities for agentic interactions to enable process engineering.
- Vertical Applications: Numorpho’s focus on intelligent process engineering aligns well with industry-specific AI applications. Use cases like digital twinning, predictive maintenance, supply chain optimization, cybersecurity and adaptive manufacturing are core to Mantra M5’s vision. Here is where we plan to utilize our Digital Twine World Model (DTWM) to blueprint, integrate and orchestrate the bind between digital and physical.

- AI Infrastructure: With data center demand and AI-specific hardware pushing boundaries, Numorpho can position itself as a leader in intelligent operational protocols (IOP) and smart infrastructure design, leveraging AI hardware to streamline its operations. We have been reviewing the infrastructure development at X.ai’s Gigacomputer facility in Memphis (Colossus) and how they are modularly using Nvidia hardware to build the facility. We believe that this is the future of AI hardware.
As we build our Proto Factory for Manufacturing next year, we will be utilizing our Digital Twine World Model to intelligently blueprint, orchestrate and operate the 3 pods of the glass factory cell using conversation, coding, computations and cognition – all of which will be driven by hardware. This will be based on our data engineering fabric that we are instituting for smart monitoring using our CONNECT-DETECT-PROTECT protocol for enabling safety, operational efficiency and predictive capabilities.

3. Emerging Tech Opportunities
NPUs are a type of specialized processing unit that is designed to mimic the behavior of biological neurons in the brain. This allows them to process information in a more efficient and energy-saving way than traditional CPUs (Central Processing Units) and GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). Unlike CPUs and GPUs, which process information linearly, NPUs can process information in parallel, which makes them more efficient for certain tasks, such as machine learning and image processing. The goal of NPUs is to bring the power of artificial intelligence closer to the brain’s efficiency and capabilities.
- Neuromorphic Computing and Edge AI: As edge computing becomes essential for real-time applications, Numorpho can integrate NPUs and adaptive sensors into its process monitoring systems. These technologies align with Mantra M5’s focus on creating an interconnected, data-driven ecosystem. We have published several whitepapers that showcase our intention with NPUs and how they would enable the new type of AI we are defining called Existential Intelligence (EI).
- Energy-Efficient AI Solutions: Sustainability challenges in AI infrastructure are a pressing concern. Numorpho could develop energy-conscious solutions through the use of NPUs, smart monitoring and environmental data integration using AI-enhanced batteries and sensor networks.
4. Considerations for Growth and Investment
The report advises focusing on high-margin AI infrastructure products and deep tech-driven innovation. Numorpho’s investment in hardtech development aligns perfectly with these growth areas, making it a potential leader in industrial AI systems with strong commercialization prospects.
We have been involved in several brainstorming sessions for hardtech both with cohort accelerator program companies (in Industry IoT, Sustainable Manufacturing, MedTech and CleanTech) at mHUB and large mHUB sponsors. We use them as a basis to understand the lay of the land and the progression of AI technologies to further product development.
