Ecosystem Build

OVERVIEW

Every tech product you use came out between 2000-2001. Nothing was built from 2011-2020. The culture was so broken. PMs, MBAs, SJWs and entitlement. But the culture is changing. Wild things will be built in the next 10 years. Are you in our out?

– George Hotz

In this part of the Everything Connected series, we will detail the progression of our Ecosystem and the MVP cadence of our products. Our products will be the “Proof of Concept” that validate to prove and improve the systems and we will use the mobility domain as the basis to create our solutions that are smart and connected.

CONSTITUTION

Our ecosystem will be governed by a set of principles that we will deem the constitution.

Our products on the other hand will be based on functionalities that is a defined set of conditions in the manifesto.

ELEVATING TRAVEL

ElevatingTravel

As I am printing the Chicago cityscape, an idea is formulating that would alleviate congestion in urban cities. Typical urban transportation systems in cities are ground based – bus, train, taxi, individual (bike, scooter, motorcycle), underground metro/subway and sometimes air. And, albeit we live in a flatland (plane), our mode of travel has always been one directional.

The Boring Company founded by Elon Musk has a goal to reduce urban congestion by digging tunnels underground and enabling autonomous (hands free) travel via them to reduce issues with congestion at the street level. Albeit they had the noble intention of re-using the dug up earth to build housing for the less fortunate, it has only materialized in Las Vegas and a small section of LA, albeit I hear Austin is in the running to do something about it too. But it is a one-dimensional travel approach. It is also expensive, hard, dangerous and incredibly foolhardy to build such tunnels under active structures that we have built over the years. It is also …. boring, albeit Buggs Bunny made it seem funny while trying to escape from Elmer Fudd! It might work great on the moon or on Mars (if we ever get there) where there is no appreciable atmosphere or magnetic field to prevent radiation and other calamities, and there is a need to protect us from the harshness of other worlds and space (I guess this was Elon’s secret agenda in doing the Boring Company and Hyperloop that some folks here on earth are fawning over).

But here on earth we do have an atmosphere and the ability to rethink our one-dimensional travel or planar existence. What if there is another way that exploits all 3 dimensions, uses existing infrastructure and prevents accidents?

We will follow our unique approach to innovation and advancement to provide for the next experience in urban travel. We will discuss the intersection between urban mobility, transport, and the environment while applying a data analysis theory and methodology to explore our current challenges. Our theme will be “mobility” including:

  • Micromobility – the ecosystem for electric bikes and narrow/thin transportation,
  • Macromobility – the ecosystem for mobile homes, campers, and RVs, and
  • Hypermobility – the ecosystem for drones, air taxis and future air transportation utilizing VTOLs

along with the infrastructure to support them and the adjacent services that will be needed to provide for and utilize them.

We will chart a future for urban transportation and its adjacencies to progress in a balanced trajectory that manages art & aesthetics, math & science, engineering & technology, regulations & ethics, and proceeds forward using a guided blueprint to achieve a full understanding of the knowns and unknowns.

Appropriate definition and use of technology and services is important so as not to over engineer aspects of the design and definition to manage urban mobility, and to increase quality of life for citizens. We have observed the impact of technology on mobility, and have proposed an approach which advances not just technology, but innovation, design, art, and aesthetics. We propose a balanced approach, where technology advances and innovation and design advance in lock-step with one feeding from and using the other.

Our products and services will cater to the mobility segment. Just like the Wright brothers we are charting a course for mobility starting with the e-bike.

The Boeing 787 is another excellent example of this. The program was initially known as the 7E7 program, with the E representing the leap the aircraft would make in efficiency, economy, and environmental standards. And it has delivered on this efficiency, as Simple Flying has explored previously (in comparison with the A350). It is regarded as the most fuel-efficient aircraft on the market.

Both electric and hydrogen technology come with a fair amount of challenges, but initiatives and investments are beginning to pick up, for hydrogen-electric fuel cells as well as electric planes, including eVTOLs (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing vehicles). The Wright brothers could hardly have predicted where aviation would go 120 years from their first flight. Who knows where it will be in another 120?

ECOSYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

Enterprises are comprised of a plethora of disparate systems that need to be conjoined to enable processing of information by coordinating people, processes, and technology to effect communication, optimization, and harmonization of activities. Traditional systems that manage product data, enterprise systems, and customer relationships need to correspond with more agile and real time systems that are used for marketing, customer service, operations management and more recently cloud provisioning for big data, AI/ML based predictive analytics, distributed ledger and compute platforms for engineering and analysis.

Digital threads describe the data that is collected about an entity, asset, or process as it moves through the enterprise. The digital thread describes the data elements, their relationships and how they change over time.  Digital twins are near-real-time digital manifestations of physical entities that capture the data from the digital thread and use it to provide a real-time view of the state of the product or application.

Our basis for connecting the dots in enterprise processes is our Digital TwineTM Reference Architecture that has been detailed in Part 2 of our Everything Connected Book of Business where we divided the processes into up-stream, mid-stream, and down-stream. This enables the correct articulation of Make-Manage-Move-Market and Maintain activities.

We contend that Hyper Automation of ecosystems will be comprised of three parts:

  1. Digital Enablement either via brownfield digitization implementations of retrofitting existing machines with smart sensors and IoT capabilities, or via green-field digitalization implementations to completely revamp the shop floor with new RPA based machines and tools. This will be based on our design philosophy for innovation and our reference architecture for automation and process management. We will also implement dynamic process controls utilizing augmented reality technology – AR/VR/XR to enable digital twinning, scanning and other metrological techniques to qualify products for signoff.
  2. IoT based connectivity comprising of smart sensors, edge servers, API gateways and cloud provisioning to effect monitoring, managing, storing, analyzing, predicting, and inferring on accumulated data to determine forecasting and future course of action. Herewith we will utilize our integration protocol Tendril Connector to coordinate the interactions and mappings.
  3. Robust AI/ML based technology, some of which we will be pioneering based on what we call actionable intelligence to correctly determine action based on cause-effect relationships and their consequences. We will also add other Emergent Technologies here based on our Computational Cybernetic framework to understand the knowns and the unknowns so that complex models can be correctly analyzed. Our Tau Codex Orchestrator will enable the proper composition of multi-modal perception engines based on different modalities of intelligence.
